Description

Pfälzer Frucht-Mandel

Die Mandel entwickelt sich zu einem bis zu 8 m hohen Großstrauch oder Baum mit einer breiten Krone. Die weiß bis hellrosa Blüte ist ca. 2 cm groß und erscheint vor dem Laubaustrieb. Aufgrund der frühen Blüte hat die Mandeln auch als Zierstrauch einen hohen Wert. Die 3 bis 6 cm großen Früchte erscheinen im Herbst.

Da die frühe Blüte frostgefährdet ist, sollte der Standort sehr geschützt sein. Weiter ist zu berichten, dass ein Fruchtansatz nur bei sehr langen, warmen Sommern zu erwarten ist. In Deutschland kann man gute Ernten nur in den wärmeren Gegenden (Südwest-Deutschland, Weinstrasse, etc.) erzielen.
