Washington-Weißdorn 

In Europa selten kultivierter Weißdorn aus den östlichen USA. Markant sind vor allem die bis zu 7 cm langen, sehr dünnen Dornen, die den Strauch ziemlich undurchdringlich machen. Die 3 bis 7 lappigen Blätter haben eine fast dreieckige Gestalt, besitzen oberseits eine frischgrüne Färbung und sind unterseits etwas heller. Das Laub ist auffallend dünn. Jedes Blatt besitzt  an der Blattknospe zwei kleine Nebenblätter. Im Mai Juni erscheint die weiße bis rosa Doldenrispe. Aus ihr entwickeln sich über den Sommer scharlachrote, flach kugelige Früchte.

Wie fast alle Weißdornarten ist  auch diese Sorte nicht zu wählerisch an den Boden. Als Standorte sollte man eine sonnige bis halbschattige Lage wählen. Dieser veredelte Weißdorn erreicht unter normalen Umständen eine Höhe von 6 bis 9 m. Er wächst vor allem in der Jugend relativ aufrecht strebend.
