Ovalblättriger Liguster

Der wohl schönste und gesündeste Liguster für eine Hecke. Er besticht vor allem mit seinem dunkelgrün glänzendem Laub und der weißen, angenehm duftenden, rispenartigen Blüte. Sie erscheint im Frühsommer. Ligustrum ovalifolium leidet nicht an Triebsterben.

Aufgrund seiner guten Schnittverträglichkeit und seines raschen Wuchses ist diese Liguster beliebt als Heckengehölz. Er kann sowohl für kleine, kompakten Hecken (bis 1 m Höhe) als auch freiwachsend als Sichtschutz (ca. 3 m Höhe) eingesetzt werden. Bei sehr strengen Wintern oder sehr wechselhafter Witterung im Januar/Februar kann es passieren, dass er sein Laub verliert. In milden Gebieten hält er aber häufig auch im Winter sein Blattwerk. Für kalte Regionen, höhere Lagen sowie Schweden, Finnland, Norwegen empfehlen wir Ligustrum vulgare Atrovirens.

Wie alle Liguster empfiehlt sich auch diese Art für Imker, da die Blüten gerne von Bienen beflogen werden. Er darf dann nur mäßig geschnitten werden.
